KENNEDY CENTER/NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

NATIONAL TRUSTEES’

SUMMER MUSIC INSTITUTE

(June 27-July 25, 2011)

 

Through an initiative of the NSO National Trustees, young musicians ages 15-20 are eligible to apply for a National Trustees’ fellowship.  One musician from most states will be selected to participate on scholarship in the 2011 Summer Music Institute, with more than one student chosen from Kentucky, the Orchestra’s 2011 Residency state.  Several international students will be selected as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Tennessee Alliance for Arts Education Invites

2010-11 Tennessee Schools of Excellence in Arts Education Awards Nominations

 

The Tennessee Alliance for Arts Education announced the acceptance of nominations for the Tennessee Schools of Excellence in Arts Education Awards Program. This award will recognize the role individual schools play in providing a creative learning environment for outstanding student achievement. The Tennessee Schools of Excellence in Arts Education Awards will highlight two schools that have developed exemplary arts education programs.

 

The Tennessee Alliance for Arts Education’s mission is to unite educators, artists, and community leaders to promote, support, and advocate for arts education for all children in grades K-12 throughout the state. TAAE is a member of the John F. Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network.

 

Winners of the Tennessee Schools of Excellence in Arts Education will receive special recognition, and will be nominated for the National Schools of Distinction in Arts Education Award presented by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

 

Past Tennessee Schools of Excellence in Arts Education award winners include Normal Park Museum Magnet and Center for the Creative Arts, both in Chattanooga. Both schools were also honored by the Kennedy Center as a National Schools of Distinction.

 

Winners of the 2010-11 Tennessee Schools of Excellence in Arts Education Award will be announced in April.
