Mission
The Tennessee Alliance for Arts Education unites educators, artists, and community leaders to promote, support, and advocate for arts education for all children in grades K-12 throughout the state. Belief Statements ? Education in and through the arts is an essential component of every child’s education. ? Arts education includes study in and through the disciplines of dance, folk art, literary arts, media, music, theatre, and visual art. ? Meeting the standards and policies regarding arts education as determined by the United States Department of Education and the Tennessee Department of Education must be a significant priority for all schools in the state of Tennessee. ? When strategically placed in schools’ goals and curriculum, learning in and through the arts will advance overall student achievement. ? Arts education will only be successful with well trained arts specialists and educators to guide student learning. ? Successful and significant arts education must include involvement by school administration, arts specialists, classroom teachers, community artists, elected officials, and community cultural resources. ? To advance arts education throughout the state, communication and information must be shared at a state, regional, and national level. ? To advance the arts in Tennessee, it is critical that all children develop appreciation for, knowledge of, and skills in the arts. For More Information Contact: |
